Two Year Molars and a Cold

Jae is having a rough end to his week; his two year molars and coming in and he caught a cold.  But for if it wasn't for the cough you would never know the kiddo is sick.  He is the happiest sick kid I have ever met!

Last Report!

I am 2 pictures away from completing our last adoption report!  I just completed our foster family letter and our progress report, so the only thing left is printing off a few pictures to send to the Korean agency and then...finalization!  This is the last of the 3 required reports and it feels so good to be pretty much done.  I am ready to be Mommy in the eyes of the law.  And then we can take care of the items like getting Jae a social security number, Minnesota issued birth certificate (which still seems weird since he was born in Korea), and make him an official US resident!  Yeah for Jae!

A few funny things Jae has been doing and saying these days:

-Everything is the color "yellow."  Must be his favorite
-Talking about the kids in his class.  Josie, Layla, Kimberly and Aupa (Austin...we are still working on that one).
-Eating raspberries like they are candy
-Announcing that he just let out a "toot."  :)  Yep, he is all boy.
-Naming the characters on Sesame Street.  Ernie, Cookie, Abby, Elmo.  Yep, the gang is all here.
-Saying "Hello Daddy" whenever he sees a phone
-Jae was trying to mimic Daddy doing a push up.  Jae seems to think lifting his head up off the floor is the same as a push up.
-Attempting to say "Happy Birthday" to Mommy.  It comes out more "Happy bisgoishgday."

Big Boy Bed

We moved from a crib to the toddler bed today.  He kept crawling in it and smiling so that is good sign.  And he has been in there for 1.5 hours now without a peep.

Stickers go on my face, right?!?
You can't tell, but he is laughing.

Baptism Day

Today went great.  Jae was pretty well behaved during church but very well behaved during his baptism.  He even let Pastor Julie hold him and walk down the isle while we stayed up front.  And as expected, Jae stuck his fingers in the water and baptised Mom and Dad (but Pastor Julie didn't exactly discourage it).  :)  It was a good day, a very good day.

A few random photos from today:

K-I-S-S-I-N-G

Oh boy we have a little charmer on our hands.  Ms. Kaylee informed me today that she caught Jae and Layla kissing!  She tried to capture the moment on camera but was just a moment too late. It really doesn't matter because the below says it all.  What is even better is it was only 2 weeks ago that we were told he followed Josie around all day.  Ladies man.  Good thing there are only 3 girls in his class. :)

On another note, Jae is getting baptised at church this Sunday.  We met with Pastor Julie last week and we are all set for the 9:45AM service.  But if you are sitting in the front, you might want to bring a rain jacket.  Because Jae is a little older, Pastor Julie wanted to practice putting water on his head so he wouldn't be too scared on Sunday.  No worries because he wasn't scared at all, in fact he was having a blast!  Before we knew it, Jae was dipping his own fingers in the water and putting it on Paul, Pastor Julie and myself.  No telling who else he is going to try and baptise on Sunday.

Already Good Memories

A good friend, and fellow adoptive parent, told me multiple times though our adoption process that we were bringing back a lot of good memories for him.  At the time I didn't understand, but only 4 short months after getting Jae home, I am starting to get it.  This morning Paul helped Jae get dressed and he happened to grab the yellow shirt that Jae was wearing on Gotcha Day.  Yes, that was a rough day, but also a wonderful one.  Good memory.  It is the day we became parents.  The real deal.  Very good memory.  Yeah, it took WAY too long to get Jae home; September 2010 to September 2011 was the longest (and most depressing if I am being honest) year of my life.  But now all the paperwork, waiting, and updates are good memories as they got us to Jae.  All good memories.  And it is almost comical to think about the evenings we sat around wishing Jae was home...only because we never get to "just sit" anymore.  We are always chasing after Jae and/or his puppy.

If anyone that reads this blog is adopting, or thinking about adopting, it is all worth it in the end.  All 2,342,352,765 pages of paperwork (including 3 background checks), all 365 days of waiting, all 837,293,294 tears (both happy and sad), all $3,000+ of airline tickets, and all the endless adoption fees...because it got us one sweet, charming, busy, happy, naughty, loving, silly little boy.  Who as you can see in the picture below, loves that Grandma Hunze sends him home with dessert.
